Opened in 1867, our Grade I listed building has key elements of national importance, including the lavish auditorium and wooden stage machinery. It is a social hub of entertainment, hosting variety performances, comedy, ballet, musicals and live concerts.
The Tyne Theatre and Opera House operates at the heart of Newcastle city centre, and has been entertaining people from far and wide since it was built in 1867.
