Since launch we have used organic heritage grain to make our spirits and now, following our organic certification by the Soil Association, we can put it on the bottle.
Our spirits are made with total provenance from seed to still – and into the final bottle on your shelf – using local organic farms to grow our exclusive heritage organic grain. The grain is distilled at our home in the heart of Oxford in our bespoke handmade stills.
The Oxford Artisan Distillery is the only distiller in the world to use populations of ancient heritage grains – painstakingly sourced and revived, bulked up over many years and grown sustainably in ways last used in the nineteenth century.
And what does all this mean for the final product?
When we started our distillery we knew what good growing heritage grain did for the soil and environment, and we knew it made award winning bread, but we didn’t know if it would make distinctive great spirits. It was a leap of faith. But from our very first batch it was clear that we were creating something very, very special.
Our spirits have a flavour that we’ve never ever achieved from commercial grain; a silky-smooth mouth feel alongside a signature maltiness with caramel undertones that wins us our rave reviews.
Our Oxford Rye Organic Dry Gin and Oxford Rye Organic Vodka are both certified organic by the Soil Association. All of our other spirits use organic heritage grain and organic ingredients where possible but may use a specific ingredient that cannot currently be sourced organically locally or is not available with organic certification. We are a work in progress and continue to strive for organic perfection.
