Enter the world of working Bath through a series of authentically reconstructed workplaces, workshops and display galleries.
Two thousand years of working life are on display from a Victorian ironmongers and engineering works, a soft drinks making factory and even a Bath Stone mine working, all on show in a former Real Tennis court, dating from 1777.
The heritage of working people in Bath is covered in two display halls – the first ‘Landscapes and Livelihoods’– shows how the city’s workers have served the residents and visitors with goods and services – since the time of the Romans. The second ‘Knowing Your Place’ features a changing programme of local history exhibitions designed and prepared with local people.
Children’s activities, working machinery demonstrations, free guided and audio tours, a small shop and refreshments are all on site and only ten minutes walk from the city centre!
