Jesmond Dene is a wonderful, historic park in the heart of suburban Newcastle. The Dene is formed from the Ouseburn’s steep-sided, wooded valley which is a peaceful haven for residents, visitors and wildlife alike. Located between Jesmond, Heaton and South Gosforth, the dene is easily accessible via all forms of transport.
EVENTS AND THINGS TO DO
The Dene is always great for a walk, whatever the British weather may offer! But we hold regular events, such as the plant stall on Armstrong Bridge on the Third Saturday every month and one-off events, which vary from guided walks to bird watching to open-air theatre productions.
PETS CORNER
Pets’ Corner is a popular, family-friendly visitor attraction. You’ll find animals of all shapes and sizes, including pigs, goats and sheep alongside rabbits and colourful birds, including peacocks. It re-opened in February 2011 after a £6m regeneration programme which included a brand new visitor centre, upgraded Pets Corner and a fantastic play area for under 8s.
