Askham Bryan Wildlife & Conservation Park is a small zoological collection at Askham Bryan College, York.
The wildlife park is open weekends and college holidays.
The Arboretum
Askham Bryan Wildlife & Cosnervation Park includes the college arboretum.
The arboretum includes many fascinating specimen trees, including:
- giant redwood
- dawn redwood
- twisted hazel
- Indian horse chestnut
- and avenue of Hungarian oaks
ANIMAL EXPERIENCES
Keeper Experiences
Meet some of our creatures and help us to feed and care for them.
Encounters are available for:
- Mammal Keeper Experience (species such as lemurs, wallabies, skunks, meerkats, raccoon dogs, armadillos, sugar gliders and tenrecs)
- Reptile Keeper Experience (species such as lizards, snakes and tortoises)
Encounters last for approximately 1 hour and include admission. Participants will receive a certificate and a badge. Participants must be at least 8 years old, and participants aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (one supervising adult admission included in price).
Mini Zookeeper Experience
Our Mini Zookeeper Experience is a perfect taster of what it’s like to be an animal keeper – available for ages 5+.
The experience lasts for 1 hour, and will include meeting some animals behind the scenes in the wildlife park.
Mini Zookeeper participants might meet:
- Reptiles such as lizards, snakes and tortoises
- Invertebrates such as hissing cockroaches
- Mammals such as tenrecs, armadillos and wallabies
Participants will receive a certificate and badge. Participants aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (one supervising adult admission included in price).
