The museum is situated in an 18th century house in the heart of Woodstock. Our permanent free galleries tell the story of Oxfordshire.
Museum garden cafe
The museum café serves sandwiches and light lunches, and offers delicious cakes, scones and other treats. There’s plenty of seating outside from which you can enjoy the garden with its colourful summer planting.

The museum’s attractively landscaped gardens are the ideal location for morning coffee, a light lunch or afternoon tea on the terrace or for just relaxing with children and friends. There is always something to delight from our carpet of early spring bulbs round the ancient chestnut tree in February to our annual summer exhibition of sculpture by local artists.
Dinosaur garden and interactive dinosaur gallery
In the garden meet our life-size megalosaur – as big as a bus! You can also:
- Explore our new garden with its Jurassic plants.
- See the 168 million-year-old dinosaur footprints excavated from Ardley Quarry in Oxfordshire.
- Follow dinosaur activity trails.
Coach House Education Centre
The education centre can cater for meetings, conferences, functions, school workshops, children’s and family holiday events and adult learning classes. It seats up to 60 (lecture-style) and can also be hired for meetings and other functions.
